One-Time and Summer Volunteer Opportunities (Option A)

@ Rosman Elementary School:

  • Many more children are attending summer school than during a regular year this summer. Some of the groups are large and an extra hand would be much appreciated in and outside of the classroom.
  • RES needs to schedule several staff landscaping and clean-up days around campus. Any volunteers who would like to help clean up or do handyman or landscaping/gardening projects around campus, or organize a group to take on a project or clean up would be helpful.

@ Rosman Middle School:

Looking for volunteers for RMS’ monthly guest speaker program, where members of the community are invited to come and share life experiences with a class, a grade or even the entire school.

Year-Round or Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities (Option B)

@ Rosman Elementary School:

  • RES is always looking for face-to-face, hands-on volunteers, who can be in classrooms working one-on-one with individual students or in small groups with a group of students and are comfortable sharing life experiences, as well.
  • RES needs volunteers to help with grounds crew work, for those who enjoy cleaning up, tidying up, landscaping or doing general home-improvement projects this would be the ideal way to give back.
  • Extra hands needed for events, such as Title 1 Nights, the annual kindergarten “camp,” which helps students transition (August 2 to 4 am and pm sessions), morning greeters, and more.

@ Rosman Middle School:

  • RMS is always in need of caring and patient volunteers for academic intervention groups. The school is looking for individuals, who can commit to a once-a-week rotation for an hour or more to work with small groups of students helping them catch up on assignments or remedial work.
  • RMS’ mentorship programs are looking for volunteers for mentorship matches administered by the Tiger Impact Group (TIG) or Big Brothers Big Sisters. These volunteers not only  spend time with students in their academic endeavors, but also engage to create mentor-mentee relations that inspire working with a student until he/she graduates high school and beyond. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated person who wants to make a lasting difference in a young person’s life.

Remote or No-Show Volunteer Opportunities (Option C)

@ Rosman Elementary School:

  • RES needs folks to publicize, solicit and collect gently-used young reader books for the school’s annual “Give 5, Read 5” event. These used books go to students, who get to experience “shopping for books” to add to their “at-home” library. This is a year-round volunteer opportunity with a big one-time payoff.

@ Rosman Middle School:

  • RMS invites potential volunteers who are homebound or live outside of Transylvania County, to be guest speakers to classes, grades or the entire school. School staff can accommodate speakers from remote locations for sharing leadership skills.

Volunteer-With-Your-Checkbook Opportunities (Option D)

@ Rosman Elementary School:

  • RES is looking for “Ice Cream Angels” volunteers. If you are too busy to contribute time, give funds to assure that each child gets to “purchase” ice cream on Fridays for the school year. Any and all donations are welcome and will help students feel included and worthy. Monetary donations are tax-deductible and can be made out to each school directly.
  • RES is also always looking for funds to buy new books and Christmas gifts for children, whose families may not have the resources to make these kinds of purchases. Monetary donations are tax-deductible and can be made out to each school directly.
