Shannon Meadows Allison

Shannon is a native of western NC and a resident of Transylvania County since 2014. Born and raised in Henderson County and a fourth-generation, 2001 graduate of Hendersonville High School she values her family roots that run deep in these mountains. Her benevolent spirit, passion, and determination have served her well in her endeavors and developed her into a truly compassionate servant leader.

Her love of the North Carolina mountains led her to Appalachian State University where she earned a track scholarship and graduated with a BA in Business and Marketing in 2005. Upon graduation she moved to Charlotte, NC where she began an exciting and fast paced career in the global supply chain industry. In 2007, she joined the Supply Chain Management Academic Advisory Board at Appalachian State University as Vice Chair and worked closely with the faculty and board to develop the Supply Chain Management Program. She remains an active member of the advisory board and enjoys supporting and interacting with the students and faculty.

In her corporate career she was employed by DHL, CEVA Logistics, Phoenix International (now CH Robinson) and UTi Worldwide (now DSV Global Transport and Logistics) in business development roles where through a strategic and consultative sale approach was consistently a top performer. By working with local businesses to fortune global 500 companies her experience encompasses a variety of functions across the supply chain- small package shipping, international air and ocean freight, contract logistics, and supply chain consulting. What she enjoyed most about her experiences in global supply chain were the relationships she developed and still has today locally and across the globe, working with a team to develop solutions to improve supply chain efficiency, exposure to a variety of industries- manufacturing, consumer and retail, furniture, automotive, high tech- and most of all she enjoyed that every day brought new challenges!

Shannon is still passionate about supply chain but has longed for an opportunity to pursue something that allows her to make a difference in her community- particularly in the lives of children. Her life experiences have deepened her passion for children and given her perspective to see the tremendous value in a good education. Her community involvement has developed a profound appreciation for the non-profit sector and has given her respect for the critical work these organization do to improve the quality of life for our community. All this combined has confirmed her desire to lead and serve in a way that will benefit the children of Transylvania County and create opportunities for an exceptional education experience. Shannon is very excited to join Transylvania County Schools Educational Foundation as Executive Director and looks forward to the opportunity to apply the skills and experiences she acquired in her corporate career to further the efforts of the Transylvania County Schools and the foundation.

Shannon has been married to her husband Beecher Carl Allison, Jr., also a western North Carolina native, since 2011 and the last 5 years she has been a full-time mother to their 2 young children-son Beecher G. and daughter Myrick. The Allison’s reside on their family farm where they look forward to raising their family. Shannon and Beecher are active members of Brevard First United Methodist Church where they serve in a variety of capacities. Shannon is Board Chair- Weekday Children’s Program, Volunteer Liaison- Mission Team, and Strategy and Visioning- Church Leadership Council. In addition, she is in the current VISION Transylvania class that will graduate in May of this year and is a tutor at Davidson River School. Shannon enjoys exploring the great outdoors or working on the farm with her family, live music and festivals, crocheting, sports, and cooking- especially beef from our farm!
