In spite of the necessary cancellation of this year’s Taste of Transylvania, the Transylvania County Schools Education Foundation (TCSEF) continues its mission to promote, develop, and encourage public and private support of Transylvania County Schools and its goals for education.

The reality, however, is that with the cancellation of its premier fundraiser, TCSEF faces the daunting challenge of all non-profits these days: how to fund their various projects that add value to both the student and teacher education experience.

Past successful projects include the TCSEF Creative Classroom Grants, an initiative that funds programs that extend beyond the school system’s funding revenues; both the Experiential Scholarship and the Jim Bob and Dottie Tinsley Communication and Education Scholarship Fund; The Cornelius Hunt Fund; and the new Youth Development Programs, which support students’ career exploration and leadership development.

TCSEF plans to continue funding these initiatives throughout 2020-21 by focusing on fundraising and partnership efforts. We are grateful for our long-time partnerships with community sponsors, those who attend Taste year after year, and for the many local restaurants that volunteer their time and creations to make Taste of Transylvania possible.  All will need ongoing and new support to continue the work we do in Transylvania County Public Schools. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor or learning more about how you can support TCSEF, you can visit our NEW website at www.tcsef.org

With this new website design and fresh new logo, TCSEF is ready to move to the next level. The new site highlights past Creative Classroom Grants, scholarship winners, and its mission and offers several opportunities to support the organization regardless of amount. Your donation will go directly to the above worthy initiatives throughout the upcoming school year. We may not know what school will look like in August, but there is no doubt that our students, teachers, and leadership will need community and Foundation support more than ever.  Any way you can support TCSEF will be sure to have a positive impact.

Since optimism is a hallmark of public education, the website also encourages everyone to save the date for our next Taste of Transylvania. Mark your calendars for May 4, 2021, at its beautiful new venue, Shuford Farm, 1650 Crab Creek Road, Penrose.  We hope to see you there!
